Incorrect Setup Of An LED Dimmer


There are two different types of dimmer switches, and chances are good that you have the wrong one if your lights are flickering. Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) dimmers reduce the brightness of the room by delivering progressively shorter bursts of electricity to the lighting component.


With LED lights, however, this pulsing action results in a quick ON/OFF cycle, which causes flickering. With PWM dimmers, the flickering gets worse the lower you set them. For the majority of industrial and commercial LED applications, constant current reduction (CCR) dimmers are the best option.


CCR dimmers can deliver a continuous and uninterrupted stream of electricity to the lightbulb, as the name suggests. They merely alter the current flow, which causes the brightness to decrease.
